董卓，字仲颖，(?-192年），陕西临洮(今甘肃省临洮县)人。官至太师、郿侯。早年为汉将，在西方平定少数民族叛乱，后来又参加讨伐黄巾起义，数次兵败，却依然升为前将军，掌管重兵。董卓拥兵自重，驻兵于河东，不肯接受朝廷的征召而放弃兵权，正逢京都大乱，何进被杀，董卓趁机进京，控制了中央政权。之后董卓废汉少帝，立汉献帝，关东诸侯联盟讨伐董卓，董卓放弃洛阳，移都长安。董卓生性残虐，当权后横征暴敛，激起了民愤，最后被王允和吕布谋杀。
生平
东汉献帝年间(公元189年一220年)，民间广泛流传着一首民谣。
“千里草，何青青；十里卜，不得生。”
歌词中“千里草”、“十里卜”合起来是董卓的名字，“何青青”、“不得生”则深刻地表达了当时广大老百姓对误国权臣董卓的极度痛恨，都希望他早日死去。这首民谣是东汉人民对董卓整个人生的基本评价，同时也从侧面反映了董卓对东汉末年政治和社会的消极影响。
